Climate change as a major risk management challenge

Today, The Geneva Association, the leading think-tank of the global insurance industry, hosted a side event for delegates and the media at the United Nations Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen. Speakers included Richard Ward, CEO, Lloyd’s of London, Christine Bosse, CEO, TrygVesta, Eberhard Faust, Head GEO Risk, Munich Re and Patrick Liedtke, Secretary General & Managing Director, The Geneva Association. The insurance leaders called on policy-makers to recognise and harness the skills of the insurance industry in national and international measures to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change.

On the occasion of this event The Geneva Association released a background paper “Climate change as a major risk management challenge”, co-authored by Kai-Uwe Schanz, Special Advisor to The Geneva Association, Patrick Liedtke and Walter Stahel, Head of Risk Management Research, The Geneva Association.
