Swiss Re Risk and Finance Conference

Upon the invitation from Swiss Re Kai-Uwe Schanz, Principal Partner at Dr. Schanz, Alms & Company, has moderated a session at a recent risk and finance conference attended by executives from European insurance companies.

The session was designed as an interview with Raj Singh, Executive Committee Member and Chief Risk Officer at Swiss Re, and Timothy Dawson, Financial Analyst at Geneva-based Helvea Group. The discussions focused on the added value of risk and capital models, the growing strategic relevance of model outcomes under the Solvency II framework and ways of ensuring that models are never used as substitutes for managerial judgement and anticipation.

Swiss Re’s CEO Jacques Aigrain and Professor Heinz Zimmermann, University of Basel, delivered keynote speeches. Other speakers included:
